Rs 6,166 cr spent on J&K Smart City projects, 288 completed, 23 ongoing | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 04 (KNO): The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs informed the Lok Sabha that 288 smart city projects have been completed in Jammu and Kashmir, while 23 projects are still ongoing. The data, accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), was presented by Minister of State, Tokhan Sahu in response to a question regarding the Smart Cities Mission (SCM). According to the ministry, Srinagar and Jammu were selected under the SCM. As of March 4, 2025, Jammu has completed 118 out of 127 projects, utilizing Rs 2,779 crore, while 9 projects worth Rs 190 crore remain under implementation. In Srinagar, 147 projects have been completed out of 161, with an expenditure of Rs 3,387 crore, leaving 14 projects worth Rs 240 crore ongoing. For Ladakh, no city has been selected under the SCM, as per the government's response. The minister further said that nationwide, 7,504 projects amounting to Rs 1,50,306 crore have been completed under the SCM, with 559 projects worth Rs 14,239 crore still ongoing. However, the government does not plan to expand the mission or undertake additional Smart City projects beyond the 100 cities originally selected, the minister added—(KNO)
